STEAM TRAINS
Railtown 1897 State Historic Park is located on the corner of Fifth and Reservoir Road in Jamestown, (209) 984-3953. The park houses the only remaining roundhouse west of the Mississippi. Steam train excursions run weekends, May through October. Special holiday trains at Christmas and New Year's Eve.

COLUMBIA STATE HISTORIC PARK
This hisoric park located 15 minutes from Jamestown. Columbia offers a reconstruction of a mining town in the mid- to late 1800s. Docents in costume answer questions, operate shops, restaurant and saloons, offer shopping, food and drink. Reproductions of banks, dry goods store, and pharmacy offer visitors a glimpse of life in a gold mining town during the Gold Rush of 1849. Gold panning, stage coach rides, and horseback riding are also available.
